Logistics operations generate a constant stream of decisions like what to reorder, which shipment to prioritize, when a delivery is at risk, how to respond to a supplier query. Right now, almost all of that runs through a person. A team member checks stock levels, approves reorder and drafts replies to customers or suppliers.
That approach can work at low volumes. It becomes harder to sustain as the network scales. People can only work so many hours, while shipments, inventory movements, and supplier requests continue around the clock. As logistics networks become more complex, the manual layer between what the data shows and what happens next can become the main constraint on speed and reliability.
Traditional workflow automation does not solve this on its own. Automation without judgment can simply move the bottleneck downstream. What is needed is a system that can make routine decisions within defined limits, execute the next action, and involve a human only when a case genuinely requires human judgment.
